“MDES” Assigns “depa” To Continue Partnership With “IBM Thailand”
As 4 Solutions Introduced To Improve Efficiency, Productivity & Digital Services
In Response To Working From Home Practice Amid COVID-19 Outbreak
May 7, 2020, depa building Ladprao – The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) partnered with IBM Thailand to launch 4 solutions to facilitate working from home, improve efficiency and provide convenience in digital services amid the ongoing spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Free trial is available for 90 days.
The coronavirus pandemic has dealt a blow to the transportation and everyday lifestyle of the people. The virus has also taken a toll on businesses across industries. It has created a new normal in communications in the society as social distancing practice has led to people taking the work-from-home mode.
Buddhipongse Punnakanta, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), has realized the problems and stands ready to support the government policy of staying home to stop the spread of the virus for the sake of the nation. The MDES assigned the depa to come up with a series of assistance measures for all parties affected by the coronavirus along with finding additional solutions to support and facilitate people who work from home.
According to the MDES’s assignment that authorized the depa to collaborate with relevant parties to facilitate those working from home during the spread of the virus, Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of depa, said the depa has teamed up with IBM Thailand, the country’s leading provider of information and communication technology, to launch the “IBM helps Thailand for COVID-19 Fighting” campaign as well as introducing solutions to facilitate working from home practice, targeting employees of companies and those working in the digital field and interested people in general.
Pathama Chantharak, deputy chairperson on business expansion in Indo-Chinese countries and managing director of IBM Thailand, said IBM is pleased to have an opportunity to introduce the artificial intelligence (AI) driven technology and Cloud-based technology with the world-class security standard to support the government measures. The IBM solutions will facilitate and empower people who work from home in order to enhance productivity and efficiency. It also helps all business operators smoothly move forward their business activities on the back of the ongoing spread of the coronavirus disease. IBM solutions comprise the IBM Cloud Event Management, IBM MaaS360, IBM Enterprise Video Streaming and Aspera File Transfer. Free trial of those solutions is available for 90 days.
The functionalities of those solutions provided by IBM Thailand are as follows;
IBM Cloud Event Management
· Serving as an assistant to IT department and DevOps to prioritize and sequence events and schedules
· It can accommodate and manage up to 20,000 events per month
· Automatic notification service on IBM Cloud
· Support up to 1,000 notification messages through multiple channels
· There is a Runbook automation item for managing up to 1,000 categories
· Data and information will be stored on IBM Cloud, which is the most secure data storage location. Only authorized users are allowed to access the IBM Cloud
· It can work in sync with other Cloud platforms such as VMware, GCp, AWS and AZURE, etc.
IBM MaaS360
· Help control and manage devices and tools transitions according to the company’s requirements
· Enhance efficiency in working
· Device management to maintain efficient workability
· Guaranteed data protection
IBM Enterprise Video Streaming
· Providing uninterrupted, HD live streaming at anywhere
· Users can choose viewers and watch other streaming videos
· Users can check for signal quality
· Question sequencing and real-time polling services
· IBM Watson can convert audio and voice into written text, while Image Recognition helps analyze images and sounds
· Suitable for education institutions and scope of works related to corporation communications, product launch events, conferences and seminars.
Aspera File Transfer
· Can upload, transfer files on Cloud with speed up to 100’s of times because it can find channels to transfer files at the fastest speed
· Control the right of use of each user and can trace activities logs
· Can add users so that new users can get access to the latest file version in shared folders
· Rest assured with security and standard
Moreover, the depa and IBM Thailand teamed up to develop the Watson Assistant for Citizen (AI) system with an aim to allow foreigners living in Thailand to submit their inquiries, search for any information and receive advices, news and information about the COVID-19 virus in English such as how to protect against the virus, how to stay safe from the virus, quarantine centers, where to get a diagnostic test for the COVID-19, travel restrictions, as well as the announcements, guidelines, directives from the Thai government, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, the Department of Disease Control, the National Institute of Health of Thailand, the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Foreigners will receive accurate and reliable information as IBM Thailand is committed to continue to develop the system in the future.
